COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Jake Koehler a California native who now lives in Phenix City is being recognized for his work around the city and for discovering a few of Columbus’ hidden treasures.

While living in California he spent most of his time surfing and exploring the waves which is what makes him even more excited to explore the waves of the Hooch.

The city felt the need to recognize him for his efforts around the Chattahoochee Valley.

One of his subscribers wrote to the city and recommended them look at his recent actions he has done for the city of Columbus, GA which led to his recognition.

“A subscriber of mine actually reached out to the city of Columbus, Georgia and they told them a little bit about what I do. I didn’t know about this but they reached out to me and asked if I would accept an award. I was like what in the world? They asked if I’d like to have my official day and that will be on October 2, 2019.and I was just speechless .I was like I’m gonna have my own day,” said Koehler.

Today, October 2, 2018 they named this as the official Jake Koehler Day.

The Chattahoochee River is a connection between Columbus and Phenix City and Koehler has discovered many creative figures in the river.

Recently he pulled a sunken trunk underwater at the Chattahoochee River.

That is definitely not one of the things you find on a normal Scooba diving trip but it is awesome!

Jake Kehler continues his adventures around the Chattahoochee Valley and is honored to be recognized for his works around the city.
